BBFI receives 5-year accreditation from PCNC
The Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) has granted Bato Balani Foundation Inc. (BBFI) a five-year certification for donee institution status. The certification means that BBFI is an organization that demonstrates “Responsible Stewardship.”
PCNC is a private, voluntary, non-stock, non-profit corporation whose main function is to certify non-profit organizations that meet established minimum criteria for financial management and accountability in the service of underprivileged Filipinos. Based on the degree of compliance with the organizational standards set by PCNC, first-time applicants are given one- (1) or three- (3) year certification; an NGO/foundation re-applying for PCNC certification is given one- (1), three- (3) or five- (5) year certification; and an NGO/foundation that reapplies for PCNC certification two (2) years after the expiration of its last certification will be considered as first-time applicant.
The entire evaluation process, which took months to complete, culminated in the visit of the PCNC evaluation team last October 17, 2019. The team was composed of three organizational and financial experts selected by PCNC. The evaluators scrutinized BBFI’s work in the areas of governance and program operation; strategic planning and networking; and financial management and administration. The evaluation utilized several process methodologies including a review of documents, interviews with the Board of Trustees, as well as individual and group interviews with partners, beneficiaries, and staff.
BBFI’s Executive Director Natalie Christine V. Jorge has undergone specialized training for evaluators and is now an accredited Governance and Operations evaluator for PCNC.
