FAITH Colleges launches Bakwitfinder app
Following the recent Taal Volcano eruption that displaced more than 300,000 families from their homes, FAITH Colleges created Bakwitfinder. It is a mobile application that makes it easy to locate individuals who relocated to evacuation centers during the calamity. With its "Search Person" function, users can just type the first and last name of their relatives and friends to find out where they evacuated.
Developed by the College of Computing and Information Technology (CCIT) of FAITH Colleges with the help of FAITH Center for Extension Services (FACES) and other local government units (LGUs), the app also provides vital information about the different evacuation centers, including among others the number of families, individuals, and the origin of the evacuees, as well as their immediate needs.
Dr. Alice M. Lacorte, CCIT Dean, emphasized that the main purpose of this database app is to bring attention and get better assistance to the affected families of the eruption.
FAITH Colleges’ Vice President for Institutional Marketing and Corporate Communications Rosalind M. Landicho added that the app will not only be used for Batangas as it has a great potential to become a national tool in the future.
Bakwitfinder can be downloaded by scanning the QR code in the poster. The public may also access its website http://bakwitfinder.
