Omni Hosts Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2018
The 22nd Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF) dubbed as the “Weekend of Everything that Flies” was held at the Omni Aviation Complex in Clark Freeport, Pampanga, February 8-11, 2018.
The PIHABF is the longest-running sports aviation event in Asia. It remained real to its objectives over the years: to spark interest in aviation; to instill discipline in young pilots; and to impart a spirit of volunteerism to the whole community.
The Fiesta showcased 26 colorful hot air balloons from all over the world. These include the huge Master Yoda, the Nutcracker with the Philippine Airlines logo, and the Matryoshka Russian doll.
Aside from the hot air balloon flights, there were various flying activities like skydiving, aerobatic exhibitions, paragliding, formation flights, kite flying, and balloon bursting competitions.
Moreover, discovery flights- hot air balloon rides, tandem skydiving, tandem paragliding, airplane and helicopter rides, and aerobatic flights were open for aviation enthusiasts to try.
An addition to the 22nd edition of PIHABF was the Air Acrobatic show where two British wingwalker ladies performed acrobatics in the air while harnessed above a single-engine airplane that made its takeoff on the Omni Aviation runway.
